Why the 109 thing you might say? IMO, they had to choose whether to tell people the game was unfinished (couldn't meet the deadline) and had to be fixed/patched, or they could have played along with the 109 (hours delay). In fact, the first build we got was the one that had issues importing savefiles from Rebirth, which got hotfixed an hour or two later. You do remember the half a hour delay, right? Shit was going on. Here's my thinking: a critical bug was found in what should have been the 'final' build, but the deadline was already there they moved an earlier (thus unfinished) build to the public depot and bought time in order to fix these bugs. If you look at the Steam depot for Isaac, you're going to see a lot of builds being pushed both to the beta and submission depot. I'll copypaste my comment from another thread: They made some legitimately bad decisions, and it's becoming a habit for them to have crummy launches with BoI. I'm not saying the subreddit didn't overreact to some degree, but Nicalis is not innocent here. We're entitled to these kinds of answers, we're entitled to a working game, and we're entitled to get our money's worth, and there is nothing wrong with wanting what we paid for. It wasn't okay when AC Unity did it, it's not okay if ANYBODY does it. Nobody on the team mentioned anything about the missing items being due to a bug until AFTER the fact (AFAIK), and not only was that was piss poor communication on their part, especially since they willfully kept us all in the dark AND decided to screw with us instead, it was supremely irresponsible to intentionally release a massively broken product just to meet a release date.
